Description

The MEGA 2560 Basic Starter Kit from Elegoo is ideal for children from the age of 10 and enables them to learn the basic settings of the IDE software, how it works and how to control the sensors using a Mega board in 16 simply explained lessons. The included Mega board is a high-quality replica compatible with Arduino IDE.

Features:

► 4-digit 7-segment display

7-segment displays typically have 7 LEDs, called segments, arranged in an 8-shape. With the 4-digit, 7-segment display with only one digit, the individual segments of each digit are controlled independently of one another. So if four digits are controlled at the same time, this happens so quickly that the human eye perceives it as if four digits were being displayed at the same time.

► LCD1602 display module

The compact LCD1602 module is a white-on-blue LED backlight that has a 2 x 16 character display to display text.

► 74HC595 chip

The MEGA 2560 board is equipped with a 74HC595 chip. This serial-to-parallel converter has 8 outputs and 3 inputs, through which data can be fed in bit by bit via so-called "Data" and "Clock" pins (memory locations as 1 or 0).

► Control of a stepping motor with MEGA 2560 and a transistor

Learn how a small stepper motor can be better controlled with MEGA 2560 and a transistor! The special thing about this constellation:

  • The stepper motor consumes more power than a digital output of the MEGA 2560 can handle. Therefore, connecting the motor directly to the MEGA 2560 could damage the circuit board.
  • The PN2222 transistor can act as a switch here. This uses only a small amount of current from the MEGA 2560's digital output to control the greater amount of current the motor is driving.
